You used baking powder with aluminum in it. It happens all the time. In fact, for every 9 comments I get on this recipe that says they love it, I get one comment that says they have a metallic taste. Non-aluminum baking powder is what you need to bake with. The other stuff has a metallic taste.
Sorry your recipe is ruined–this has happened to me, too. I moved into a new place, and decided to just quickly stock my pantry with cheap baking staples…I grabbed regular baking powder from Walmart. The first batch of cookies I made tasted metallic. If you google it, it’s totally a thing. I’m sorry! Just make sure the label says ‘ALUMINUM FREE BAKING POWDER’ and you’ll have delicious biscuits next time :)
