Oh Judy, I am so sorry :( I have no idea what happened. Was your butter at room temp? What about your egg yolk? What kind of cookie sheet are you baking on? Sometimes the super thick insulated cookie sheets coupled with a silicone mat can prevent cookies from spreading.
